Volte-Face
‘an abrupt and complete reversal of attitude, opinion, or position’
Exhibition of contemporary reassembled fashion by Paula Collier
Drawing on inspiration from the 80’s designs of Kansai Yamamoto and Issey Miyake combined with a long held love of fashion, op shopping, pattern and fabric this project showcases a collection of original handmade garments using discarded woollen clothing.
Each piece in the show is a unique composition of pattern and colour which utilises a process of selection, deconstruction and reassembly.
Paula Collier is a top costume designer here in New Zealand, working with the likes of Peter Jackson and other top film industry names. This was a one-off exhibition of hand created works by her during a rare break from film work.
