With huge thanks to our wonderful, delish and generous sponsors

Robbie Motion's practice begun in their later years of high school through creating pieces for album covers and shows within Dunedin’s local music scene and throughout New Zealand, working with acts such as Estere (art work created for live performance), Tom Scott (Avondale Bowling Club/Years Gone By Records logo), Ha the Unclear (album cover art: Invisible Lines (2018).
Currently Motion’s practice continues to work through commissions in all fields throughout NZ while actively exhibiting their own projects.
Artist statement:
Employing experience from performing commissions and a degree in Art History, Motion's practice navigates the quiet and vulnerable moments of life, seeking to capture instances of thought that otherwise slip into the constant stream of thought. With figures and faces distorted, cut and pushed into one another Motion allows the absurd to feel mundane, and vice-versa. Ultimately, Motion’s work looks to the internal narratives of the mind and brings them to the surface to live as (almost) fully formed beings.
